Brett is dedicated to helping clients through the most difficult moments they may ever face. Whether his clients have been severely injured, or whether they have been arrested, those situations can often be the worst things a client will ever experience. Brett takes pride in being the person they lean on to guide them through the process and stand up for them if they are being treated unfairly. Brett tries to bring a calming and reasonable influence to his clients while still fighting for their interests.
Brett is a 2007 graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Law. Following law school, Brett began his legal career at the Minnehaha County State’s Attorney’s Office in Sioux Falls as a Deputy State’s Attorney. During his 3 years as a Deputy State’s Attorney, he prosecuted and handled countless cases, including but not limited to simple traffic tickets, DWI cases, drug charges, assaults, child abuse and homicide charges. Throughout those experiences Brett had the opportunity to try approximately 15 jury trials and amass a countless number of hours in the courtroom.
Since going into private practice, Brett has handled a variety of civil and criminal legal issues. Brett’s primary areas of practice are helping individuals who have been hurt or injured and representing individuals who have been charged with crimes.
Brett is a member of the South Dakota Bar Association, the South Dakota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the South Dakota Trial Lawyers and is admitted to practice in both State and Federal Court in South Dakota. Brett also is an active member of the Sioux Falls Referral Network and has served as the group’s president for 2016-2017.
